| Can you think of a country where there is no recreational reading for teenagers? Such a country is Nepal, where up to recently no teenage novels could be found. In order to address the growing reading need among teens Sunbird Publishers in 2002 launched a new division called Yuwa Pustak, Books for Teens. Yuwa Pustak reaches out to teens through easy-to-read novels with an appealing design. Already three teen novels have been published: Udeka Manhari, Aljhiyeka Jeevanharu and Collegeka Dinharu. The novels address some of the situations and pressures teenagers deal with in today’s society and introduce life skills which will help teens to deal with similar situations and issues should they arise in their own lives. Written by promising young writers, including a teenage author, Yuwa Pustak novels are non-judgemental and rather present positive role models. |
